Use New Words
Using new words enlightens your reader and he/she would feel good about reading your story/essay. The words shouldn’t be VERY complicated, or the reader would feel jumbled.
Here’s an example:
She made her way to the circus tent, with her face beaming. She hummed a catchy song. Lizabeth was very cheery that day, because she got a new profession at the circus.
This paragraph means that a girl named Lizabeth and going to the circus tent because she had gotten a job there. Do you see? The meaning of the paragraph is only one sentence, but the paragraph is 3 sentences, because of the new words.
You can use Google for help in finding the new words.
Make The Reader Want To Continue Reading
This is very important. Once you write something, you have to make it interesting. You have to make the reader want to read more! You’ll have to put very “mysterious” sentences.
For example, He walked into the castle. He felt cold and and his car had broken down. The only thing he saw in sight was a castle. An old castle.
The reader would now want to know how he got there, why he was cold, why he was there…The number of questions are innumerable.
The title could also be “mysterious”, like: He Walked In And Saw Something He Had Never Seen Before
Leave Some Gaps
People usually do not like reading chunks of words. They’d rather read some paragraphs. So, Remember not to make a paragraph big. Break them into little groups.
Would you rather read this:
Dogs (Canis lupus familiaris) are domesticated mammals, not natural wild animals. They were originally bred from wolves. They have been bred by humans for a long time, and were the first animals ever to be domesticated. There are different studies that suggest that this happened between 15.000 and 100.000 years before our time. The dingo is also a dog, but many dingos have become wild animals again and live independently of humans in the range where they occur (parts of Australia). Today, some dogs are used as pets, others are used to help humans do their work. They are a popular pet because they are usually playful, friendly, loyal and listen to humans. Thirty million dogs in the United States are registered as pets. Dogs eat both meat and vegetables, often mixed together and sold in stores as dog food. Dogs often have jobs, including as police dogs, army dogs, assistance dogs, fire dogs, messenger dogs, hunting dogs, herding dogs, or rescue dogs. They are sometimes called “canines” from the Latin word for dog – canis. Sometimes people also use “dog” to describe other canids, such as wolves. A baby dog is called a pup or puppy. A dog is called a puppy until it is about one year old. Dogs are sometimes referred to as “man’s best friend” because they are kept as domestic pets and are usually loyal and like being around humans. Dogs like to be petted, but only when they can first see the petter’s hand before petting; one should never pet a dog from behind. August 26 is National Dog Day. While March 26 is National Puppy Day.

Most of you, would choose the second one. Why? Because it seems easier to read. Chunking up words just reduces your reader (Sometimes).
Make The Writing Descriptive And Add Even The Smallest Details
Detailing a story/essay will make the reader understand more about the character/scene. Detailing also means adding some new words. Make the reader feel that he/she is part of the story/essay. Add words like: Mesmerising, Adorable, Beautiful, Elegant, Delicately, Softly etc.
An example would be: She delicately brushed her long, golden hair. She took a deep breath and got up from her make-up chair. She turned to the mirror and flashed a smile, showing her shiny, white teeth. Princess Auda patted her gown and did a little princess wave at herself in the mirror.
In the example, we’d understand that the main character is a princess and her name is Auda. She is combing her long, blonde hair and some might even think she is in her room. Once she finished combing her hair, she got up and smiled at herself in the mirror. She patted her gown and then waved at herself.
So, even though you don’t put pictures, the reader would be able to understand the scene.
Read
Read, read, read, read. You HAVE to read if you’re writing something. Reading helps you know how an essay/story should be written. It helps a lot.
PUNCTUATE CORRECTLY!
Punctuation is very, very, very important!
If you don’t punctuate correctly, then the entire sentence would change meanings.
For example: WITH PUNCTUATION: Let’s eat, Grandma!
WITHOUT PUNCTUATION: Let’s eat Grandma!
See what I mean? Without punctuation, It would mean you were gonna literally eat the grandmother.
